Troubleshooting

YETI PRO 4000 and TANK PRO 4000

Confirm Power Status

Confirm that the Master Power Button is in the "ON" position (pressed in). This should be done when the unit appears unresponsive to any button presses and the display is blank. If the unit is taking an input, the display will only show the input power and the SOC portions of the screen.

Confirm Battery Voltage

For issues relating to non-functioning output ports, confirm that the battery Voltage is still within the operating Voltage range. This can be done from the Display Menu via the Device Info settings menu by scrolling through the menu options until you reach Pack Voltage. In some circumstances, the displayed SoC can report an incorrect value due to incorrect/incomplete calibration or due to the unit having been left idle for an extended period of time, and will report higher SoC than is true of the actual battery voltage which is required for functionality. If the battery voltage reaches below a certain value (about 49V or less) then the discharge mosfets are locked and the Yeti will reject port output. In this state, the Yeti is functionally 0% SoC even though display says otherwise. Generally, the solution to this is to recharge the Yeti and port output should be re-enabled after reaching a sufficient threshold.

Power Cycling (Turn off and on)

Ensure that the Yeti is not charging from any sources, or that there are no inputs applied to any of the input ports. While the Master Power Button is in the ON position, click it into the OFF position, then wait 30 seconds. Once 30 seconds have passed, click the Master Power Button back into the ON position. This is a hard reset of most electronics inside of the Yeti, and should be done in all issues related to potential bugs with inputs, outputs, or display/UI.

Confirm Unit is on the latest Firmware

Have the customer check the firmware version installed. This is to ensure not only that they are running the latest and greatest firmware available, but that the issue they are experiencing has not been fixed via a firmware update already. Firmware versions, and their details, can be found on the change history page. The firmware version can be checked either by cycling through the Display Menu following this guide, or by going on the Goal Zero App.

Check AC Breakers

For issues relating to not being able to charge or discharge from the AC input/output, check the breaker buttons on the back of the Yeti unit. If they are protruding, then the breakers have tripped from exceeding the max power/current limit of the AC inverter. This could be indicative of a deeper-rooted issue with the system if this happens with applications that should be within specification; further investigation will be needed if the breakers trip multiple times.

Reset Tank Address(es)

This will essentially clear and restart the communication between the Tank and the Yeti units.

  • Hold down the Function button on the back of the Tank Unit(s) you wish to perform the address reset on while the Tank unit is switched into the ON position.

Hold down the Settings button near the Yeti display for 10 seconds until a beep is heard to clear these addresses from the Yeti's side.

This should be done when:

  • The Tank unit(s) CONNECT green status light is not lit. Note that a blinking light indicates pairing or equalizing is in progress; a solid light indicates a successful/completed connection (this can take up to 12 hours depending on battery state of charge).
  • The Yeti unit/Goal Zero app do not show any indications of a Tank after a Tank has been connected and turned on.
  • The Tank units do not appear to have updated with the Yeti unit during a firmware update.

Force a Firmware Update

If the Yeti attempts and fails to update or if you need to manually update from the Yeti itself - ensure it is connected to a 2.4 GHz network with Internet access. Press and hold down the PAIR button for 10 seconds. After the Yeti beeps a second time, let go of the button; the Yeti will then attempt an update.

Internal Reset

While the Yeti unit is on, hold down the PAIR button on the back unit and the LIGHT button on the display simultaneously for 3 seconds. You should see the display lights/segments blip off and then back on as confirmation that the
